About the Scholarship

Dr. Edith King Scholarship is accredited and is sponsored by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The organization was established in the year 1969 with the sole motive to serve the charitable needs of the Oklahoma City area. This non-profit institution provides financial assistance to all needy to achieve their educational goals.

The Dr. Edith King Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 to honor the lifetime commitment and leadership of Dr. King to the field of mental health services in central Oklahoma. This is an endowed scholarship fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The funds provided may be used by a student to cover expense such as tuition, fees, and books.


How to apply for Dr. Edith King Scholarship? 

  • The students applying for this scholarship must submit their FAFSA application that is used to determine the financial position of a student and his/her family.

  • An applicant must submit all their official transcripts with SAT/ACT scorecards to that they are academically strong and meet the eligibility criteria.

  • After creating a student account a general application must be submitted with required documents before the deadline.

  • SAR (Student Aid Report) or the first two pages of their household's most recent IRS 1040 tax form must be submitted at the time of admission.


Deadline and Scholarship Amount

  • A total of $2000 are issued annually to students which can be used for all their educational-related expenses.

  • The funds are provided only once and are non-renewable, the total number of scholarship issued varies depending on the availability of funds and total number of applications received.

The students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other required application before the due date which is by the end of May 01, 2020. Applications and other related information are available on the official website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a resident of Oklahoma pursuing a graduate degree in mental health services.

  • An applicant must be legally recognized citizen of the United States to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • In addition, a student must be a resident of Oklahoma pursuing graduating degree in the field of mental health.

  • To be considered by the financial ais division, one must demonstrate a commitment to work with juveniles.
