About the Scholarship

The General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant program, also known as the Hap Arnold Grant is organized by the AFAS education support, a financial institution providing no-interest borrowings or rewards to assist the critical requirements of the society and make a long-lasting pragmatic impact. 

The application process for the Arnold Education Grant serves as the stepping-stone for many educational assistance options in the Society. This program is a very competitive initiative, with the requirement-based evaluation procedure, overseen by the ACT Recognition Program Services. 


How to apply for this scholarship?

The materials required to be considered for the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant are:

  • A completed application, which can be found online on the official website of the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS).

  • Front and back copies of official military ID card and the sponsoring member's qualifying documentation.

  • For active duty and Title 10 AGR/Reserve members, the student must attach a copy of assignment orders to present duty station to the application form.

  • For Title 32 AGR members, the student must attach a copy of his/her ID showing active duty and orders/contracts showing the performance of full-time active duty through Dec. 1.

  • For retired/reserve members, the student must attach a copy of military retirement orders. For deceased members, the student must attach a copy of AF Form 1613 Statement of Service form; or State Death Certificate with a copy of most current military orders.


Award Amount 

The scholarship award provides around 5000 monetary rewards amounting to $2,000 each, annually.

Applicants are expected to reapply every year to be considered for the scholarship again, which can be done for the next 4 years, or before they become 23 years old.

The scholarship reward is limited to educational usages only.


Deadline Information

The deadline date for this scholarship is 30th April 2019. All applicants must submit the respective documents on or before the deadline date.


Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be a full-time student.

  • A recipient must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

  • A student must be a son, daughter, spouse, or surviving spouse of an Air Force member.

  • A candidate must be a U.S. citizen.

  • A student must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
