About the Scholarship

The GRCF is started the Grand Rapids Community Foundation General Scholarship to encourage higher academic education in the Kent Country. The community is providing great opportunity to the residents of Kent Country to achieve their career goals. The people who are unable to pursue their higher academic studies after high school due to great financial burden can acquire this benefit to achieve their dream. In order to receive this fund, The student must be a resident of Kent County who will be attending Aquinas, Calvin, Cornerstone, Davenport, GRCC, GVSU, or Kendall college. The student should maintain the cumulative GPA as specified by the financial aid.

How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • In order to apply for this scholarship, an applicant must fill and submit the FAFSA application form, which clearly demonstrates the financial position of his/her family.

  • A student must demonstrate the number of awards received, extracurricular activities participated in, volunteerism, employment status.

  • In addition to that, an applicant must submit the most recent semester academic transcript - high school seniors must include transcripts of first-semester senior year.

  • Also, an applicant must write an essay about the reasons for your choice of college, chosen course of study, career goals, plans for financing your education, and information on past activities benefiting your community.

  • A student must provide his/her financial information including family income.

Award Amount and Deadline:

The Scholarship fund ranges from $500 to $5000 based on the student's financial need. The annual average amount is $1000 awarded to one applicant. The award is non-renewable.

The scholarship application starts on 1st December 2019. All Eligible applicants can apply to this scholarship on or before 1st March 2020.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A student should be a resident of Kent County.

  • A student should bound for or in college, or those pursuing a technical career.

  • a student should be good in academics.

  • An applicant must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

  • In order to receive this fund, an applicant must have a financial need.
