About the Scholarship
This scholarship is given by the organization Horatio Alger Association. This Horatio Alger Louisiana program scholarship is established in 1984 by Horatio Alger Association Members and Friends. The aim of this scholarship is to give support for low-income youth to pursue their dreams through higher education on technical or bachelor degrees.
How to apply for the scholarship?
The applicant can apply online on the official website of the Horatio Alger Association.
The applicant must have to produce a copy of the front page of his/her parent/guardian's most recent individual federal tax return.
The applicant has to produce statement copies of any government benefits, such as food stamps or Public Assistance documents.
The applicant has to submit his/her FAFSA card.
The applicant has to submit his/her academic scorecard.
The application has to submit the most recent transcript.
Award amount for the scholarship?
The award amount for the scholarship is $2625 per year upto $10,500 per 5 years.
This award is renewable and the number of award given to the student per year is 25.
Deadline of the scholarship:
The deadline for this scholarship is the 25th of October.
An applicant must be a United States resident and must be enrolled as a high school senior in Lousiana.
A student must exhibit a strong commitment to complete their bachelor's degree in an accredited non-profit public or private institution.
A student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 out of 4 to be eligible for the scholarship.
An applicant must exhibit excellence in academics, co-curricular activities and involvement in community services.
