What is Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG)?

The (MESG) has been crafted by the Mississippi Legislature and it is designed to aid the students who are attending the state as well as non-profit colleges and universities which are offering two or four years of the curriculum.

The main to provide financial help to the talented and deserving candidates, the MESG also provides educational opportunities for the students who eagerly wish to pursue their higher education in the Mississippi state of the United States.

The MESG Scholarship is offered by the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid to the most deserving and talented students in the Mississippi state of the United States.


How many students are eligible for the award?

Based on the number of qualified applicants and funding levels, the number of awards which are offered annually will vary. Generally, all eligible applicants are awarded.


Scholarship Amount

  • The scholarship is being awarded to the students every year to cater to the educational needs of the students.

  • The award as decided by the members of the Mississipi Eminent Scholar's Grant committee amounts to about $2,500 per annum.

  • The amount as mentioned by the committee cannot exceed the tuition and other miscellaneous fees as provided by the college or university to which the student applies in the Missipi state of the United States.

  • These awards are usually renewable or replenished every 8 semesters during the college tenure or more specifically 12 trimesters or maybe sometimes the completion of degree too depending upon whichever is occurring before in the chronological order.

  • In order to ensure the renewal, the awardees must renew it every year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should be a resident of the State of Mississippi one year prior to the application.

  • The student should have acquired a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in high school or GED certificate.
