About the Scholarship

Scott Clyde created this scholarship for current or former students for disadvantaged youth from the NW Association of Educational Opportunity Programs (NAEOP-TRIO). An applicant does not need to be identified as LGBTQ, but should demonstrate leadership in human rights, gender issues and/or the rights of sexual minorities.


How to apply for the Scholarship?

  • All applications must be submitted online.

  • The individual must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but can study elsewhere. 

  • Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education which includes a community college, four-year public or private college or university, certificates or diploma program, etc

  • If selected, students are required to bring a transcript.

  • Students must be members of the LGBTQ and allied community.

  • Students must submit the following: Contact information for two references, one should be a teacher, counsellor or another academic representative who are familiar with her capabilities and potential.

  • Applicants are required to answer six essay questions on topics of educational goals, career goals, activities, challenges and a quote (limited to 5000 characters).


Scholarship Amount and Deadline

The scholarship amount awarded typically range between $500 to $12,000 annually and are non-renewable. The average amount awarded last year was $4,160.

 

The deadline for the application is Friday, 10th January 2020.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a current or former student for disadvantaged youth from the NW Special Program Association (NASP-TRIO).

  • Must be a senior high school, undergraduate or graduate student when applying.

  • Must be a Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska resident.

  • Students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered self-identified are given preference.
