About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, an organization that is in charge of a number of public schools. The university's financial aid division constantly strives to provide necessary financial assistance to a student who demonstrates the need.

The Career and Technical Education Scholarship was created during the 2009 legislative session and is aimed at retaining students in North Dakota and expanding high school rigor. The scholarship program is authorized through NDCC. A student can start applying for the scholarship amount during their senior year of high school.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • The first step towards getting the scholarship is through filling the FAFSA application form that is used to identify the eligibility and the financial position of a student.

  • The applicant also has to submit all their high school transcripts and meet certain academic criteria.

  • In addition to the transcripts, a student must also submit official ACT and SAT score reports.

  • The student must make an account and fill out the application on the NDDPI website and no other applications are required.

  • A student can fill in the application and submit it online by creating their account with a unique username and password.


How much the scholarship award amounts to?

  • The award amount will be $750 for each semester, hence it’ll be $1,500 per year.

  • If the student is enrolled full-time then the scholarships are automatically renewed

  • The number of awards granted varies every year and depends on the academic performance of a student.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The student is enrolled full time at an accredited institution of higher education in this north Dakota

  • The applicant must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 out of 4 to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • The state board shall monitor each scholarship recipient to ensure that the student meets the academic requirements, and exhibit community services.
