About the Scholarship

The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley is the institution that provides the scholarship to the applicants whose father or mother is suffering from a serious illness. The scholarship is giving financial assistance to the applicants who are affected emotionally, physically and academically. CFHV also works to strengthen the community by helping the people who are in great need of funds for their education.

The community encourages to support charities and works towards an individual's growth. To apply for this scholarship award, an applicant must be enrolled in any program in a four-year college or university in Arlington High School. The scholarship amount awarded can be used completely to cover your tuition costs.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants need to write an essay about the illness that their parents are suffering from.

  • An applicant also needs to submit a resume or the document showing a list of extracurricular activities they have participated in.

  • In addition to the above requirements recipients also need to submit a recent official high school transcript.

  • To apply for this scholarship award, an applicant needs to complete the FAFSA application form which demonstrates the financial need of a student.

  • After completing the FAFSA form, recipients will get a copy of the Student Aid Report and Expected Financial Contribution details.

  • Additionally, an applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from the teacher or instructor, the letter should have been written in the last 6 months.


What is the total amount awarded?

The organization is awarding $1000 for one student a year, who actually demonstrates the need for financial assistance.

The scholarship amount is non-renewable and is provided just for a year. All the documents with the required scorecard and transcripts must be submitted to the institution before April 1.



Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be a graduating senior from Arlington High School.

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4 with the ACT score of 20 is required in order to enjoy the benefits of the scholarship.

  • An applicant needs to participate in sports or any other extracurricular activities.

  • In order to apply for this scholarship award, students need to demonstrate financial need.
