About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the Walk Safe Long Island, an organization that was the collaboration between safety educators and law enforcement. Their aim is to increase pedestrian safety and reduce the number of preventable accidents. The grant will award two students and the selection will be done based on how the video submission educates the audience.
How to apply for the scholarship?
Interested applicants must create an original video responding to the question: "'Why is it important to educate Long Islanders about pedestrian and traffic safety?". The video should also provide information about the traffic laws and rules in Long Island. The video cannot contain inappropriate content or personal information.
The video must be between 30 seconds and 3 minutes in length.
Videos larger than 15MB may not be uploaded. It must also be shared on a website such as Youtube or Vimeo.
How much the scholarship award amounts to?
Two scholarships are awarded each year.
The first-place candidate will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship and the second-place candidate will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
All scholarships are one-time awards and are non-renewable.
The deadline date is set for August 31
The applicant must be a high school junior or senior, or a college freshman or sophomore.
Must reside in Long Island, New York.
