About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the Secular Student Alliance, a nonprofit and the only national organization dedicated to atheist, humanist, and other non-theist students. They aim to empower secular students to proudly express their identity, build welcoming communities, promote secular values, and set a course for lifelong activism. Their scholarships are awarded yearly to members who have demonstrated leadership in their communities and dedication to academics within the school setting.

How to apply for the scholarship?

  • Interest applicants should first register for a free membership with the Secular Student Alliance.

  • Applicants must then complete the online application which can be found on the SSA site. The application includes eight personal questions/essays that need to be answered. 

  • The registration, application, and essays should be submitted through their respective online forms.

How much the scholarship award amounts to?

  • The award amounts to $1000 and $3000 and is non-renewable.

  • All awards are provided on a one-time basis.

Deadline Information

The deadline date is set for August 31

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be attending a high school, college, or university in the United States.

Must demonstrate secular values and community leadership.
