The Bayou State of Louisiana is the 25th most populous state in the US. Louisiana was purchased from the French in 1803 for about $15 million – although this included the entire Louisiana territory. The money was then used to buy wigs, stockings, and velvet doublets, ensuring that The French would look silly well into the 20th century.
