About the Scholarship

UA Scholars Program is organized by the University of Alaska, a system of public universities in Alaska, U.S.The University of Alaska is found under Article VII of the Alaska State Constitution.

The UA Scholars Program is an incentive for the middle and high schoolers of Alaska, to assist them in their educational progress. The program promotes the idea of joining and attending the University of Alaska. The participation educational institutions may consider other academic aspects, but the criteria can't be the student's financial requirement, the reason to enroll or not at the University of Alaska, ongoing enrollment at high school, or the outcomes from the High School Exams. 


How to Apply?

The UA Scholars Program does not require any form of external applications from the students. The program automatically provides scholarships to students who're in the top 10% of the graduating Alaska high school students. 

The students are expected to apply for the University of Alaska by May 1 to receive the scholarship reward.


Scholarship Amount

The UA Scholars Program provides monetary rewards of $1500 per semester, renewable for up to 8 semesters.

The number of awards given varies each on the number of eligible candidates.


Deadline Information

The deadline date to apply for the University of Alaska is May 01.


Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to apply for the UA Scholars Program are:

  • The student must be a graduating high school senior.
  • The student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • The student must be admitted into a certificate or undergraduate degree program at a University of Alaska campus in order to redeem the award.
  • The student must be designated in the top 10 percent of his/her graduating class.
  • The student must enroll in 12 credits or more (full time) beginning the first fall semester following the graduation date of the class with which he/she was designated unless utilizing a leave of absence. Students must complete a minimum of 12 credits for the first two semesters in which they receive an award, and must complete 30 credits annually thereafter until the award is concluded.
  • The student must successfully earn a high school diploma from a qualified Alaska high school.
  • The student must be a U.S. student.
