About the Scholarship

The University of North Carolina Need-Based Grant is sponsored by the College Foundation of North Carolina organization that is committed to promoting access to higher education and financially assists students to plan their careers.

The students wishing to apply for this scholarship should attend at least one of the 16 colleges or institutions of the University of North Carolina. Awards are based on the financial need, hence an applicant must clearly demonstrate their financial need towards the academic study.


How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • In order to apply for this scholarship, an applicant needs to fill and submit a FAFSA application form to determine the financial position of his/her family. The applicant must submit this form before the deadline given by their institution's financial aid.

  • In addition to that, applicants need to submit the official transcripts of the current study to prove their academic excellence.

  • Additionally, the university may also want their students to submit additional forms and supplemental information before the results are given.

Award Amount:

The award amount varies from $500 to $4200 based on the financial need of a student and total number of applications received.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at one of the 16 constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina.

  • A student should be eligible for financial assistance as demonstrated by FAFSA.

  • This award is provided only for the students of North Carolina. So, a student must provide a record proving that a student is a legally recognized citizen of the United States.
