About the Scholarship

VSGC Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program is accredited by Virginia Space Grant Consortium and is funded by NASA and the Commonwealth of Virginia. This scholarship aims at Promoting undergraduates interested in STEM research while recognizing high academic achievement and achieving the goals of the Virginia Space Grant Consortium and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. This scholarship aims at underrepresented minorities, females, and students with disabilities in STEM-related careers

Basic requirements needed for this scholarship?

  • Students must have already been completed at least 2 years of STEM undergraduate programs.

  • VSGC’s undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program spurs the talented undergraduates who show interest in STEM and NASA guided programs

  • Students must give a brief statement written by the applicant relating to the reasons for his/her desire to enter a profession in a STEM field

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application must be completed by the students to meet the eligibility

VSGC Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program amounts to

  • This scholarship provides a $3500 stipend and an additional $1000 for research allocation of materials.

  • The maximum award cannot exceed $8000 per year.

Deadline information

The applicants must submit their applications by the end of January 31, 2020

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an U.S citizen

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours) at one of the five Virginia Space Grant Consortium member institutions: Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Old Dominion University, The College of William and Mary, or Hampton University 

  • Must have completed at least two years of a STEM undergraduate program and be classified as a junior or senior

  • Must have a GDP of minimum 3.0
