Kinesiology is the study of mechanics and anatomy, in relation to humans and body movement. It is a course that prepares students to start their careers in rehabilitative sciences.
The subjects taught in Kinesiology are both theoretical as well as practical. The basic concepts that are covered in this course are Kinematics, Biomechanics, and Anatomy.
A Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology is a four-year undergraduate degree program in which students learn about physical movements that would reduce injuries, identify injuries and create rehabilitation plans.
A Master’s degree in Kinesiology is a two-year degree program in which students participate in more specialized coursework in theory and application of body movement. Laboratory training, teaching assistantships, and internships may also be included in the curriculum.
A Doctorate degree in Kinesiology is a four-year professional degree program in which students are prepared to become university-level teachers or researchers in a specialized field of Kinesiology. Students also perform research activities in laboratories in the form of assignments/projects.
There are few requirements which need to be fulfilled before one applies for an admission in the Kinesiology program. The student should have a high school diploma with a minimum of 2.0-3.0 GPA.
With a degree in Kinesiology, a student gains advanced knowledge about the movement of the human body, the special physical movement to reduce or prevent injuries. Students having mastered this degree can become research scientists in a specialized field of Biomechanics.
