If you are joining a university, we are sure you have been spending weeks deciding what are the important things to buy. A checklist will help you with that.


FOR THE STUDENTS WHO ARE MOVING TO DIFFERENT CITY/COUNTRY

It will be a confusing task to decide what to take and what to leave behind when you are moving to a different place for education. The whole environment will be changed and be ready to face it with more enthusiasm.  First of all, it is very important to know what you exactly need. Keeping a checklist will be very helpful in that case. The things needed can be categorized based on priority as given below.


ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTS

It is important to carry all the documents which will help in the future. Also, it is equally important to keep it all safe.

  • Passport

  • Official letters from the University

  • Driving License (if you have one)

  • Insurance documents (for international students who may require health insurance)

  • Bank card and account details


ELECTRICALS

  • Laptop/Computer                                                                                   

  • Charger and USB Cable

  • Pen drives                                                                                           

  • A compact printer ideal for dorm


STATIONARY

  • Notebooks

  • Journal (If you are a person who likes to write your day to day activities and experiences)

  • Reading light

  • Sticky notes

  • Backpack 


CLOTHING

  • Shirt

  • Trousers

  • Socks

  • Jeans

  • Partywear

  • Boots

  • Bathroom slippers

  • Comfy sneakers (shows how stylish you are????)

  • Sportswear (if you are a sports person)


KITCHENWARE 

  • Plates

  • Crockery

  • Glasses

  • Coffee maker (if you are a coffee lover)

  • Water container

  • Dish wash and tissues

  • Knife 

  • Basic cooking appliances if you are good at cooking


HEALTHCARE:

Basic medical kit is very much important based on one’s personal medical issues. No one will ever know what can happen. So it is better to have an emergency medical kit in your dorm which may be helpful to your roommates as well. It is better to carry tissues or a hand sanitizer if you are a person who cares too much about the cleanliness around you which a good thing.


 PERSONAL NEEDS:

This category varies from person to person. It depends on one’s personal interest.

  • Bedcovers

  • Pillows

  • Comfortable bed sheets

  • Laundry bag

  • Few basic cleaning supplies

  • Air freshener

  • Alarm

  • Mini toolkit

  • Headphones  (to have a noiseless environment and peaceful mindset)


FOR STUDENTS FROM THE SAME PLACE

It is much easier for students who live in the same country or region (with family) as they do not have to worry much about the dorm preparations or kitchenware. But guys it is also important to be ready for any sort of changes in the environment around you. The important things they should be considered is given below.


DOCUMENTS WHICH IS TO SUBMITTED TO THE COLLEGE

  • Marks sheet

  • Admission letter

  • Other certificates

  • Driving license (you need not be submitting this to the college but it is an important document if you are traveling via motorcycle or a car)

  • Acceptance letter


STATIONARY: 

  • Good quality notebooks

  • Pens and markers

  • File holder (if necessary)

  • Backpack

  • Sticky notes

  • Highlighter pens

  • Stapler


PERSONAL REQUIREMENT

  • Water bottle (being hydrated is one of the good habit guys)

  • Helmet (if you are using a motorcycle to travel)

  • Hand sanitizer (if you are a person who is keen about germs and cleanliness)
