SAT  makes a student ready for schools, provides schools with one common data point that can be used to filter the applicants in the system. The college admissions officers will review standardized test scores with your high school GPA, subjects, letters of recommendation from teachers, extracurricular activities, interviews, essays, etc. SAT scores vary from school to school.

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges to conduct admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice, pencil and paper test created method, administered by the College board.

How to send your SAT scores

Here is how you can request and send your SAT scores.

Sign up to send SAT scores for free while you register for the SAT

You can request to forward four free score reports anytime from the day you register up to 9 days, right after your SAT test date.

Send SAT score reports after the free test

Be eligible for an SAT fee waiver. Unless you are eligible, there’s a $12 fee to send a score report after the nine-day period ends. 

Seek request for an SAT rush order

A hurry to send your SAT scores, you can request for rush order, means that your sores will be sent to colleges within 2-4 days. (with additional fee/extra fee). Refer to Table1.




Schedule SAT score reports at registration

Four score reports are available from registration up to 9days after your SAT test date


Request for additional score reports

Score reports that are over and above the 4 free options or reports ordered outside of the nine-day time period

How long does it take to send SAT scores?

It takes one week to process your request. 

After your request is received, ACT sends reports to colleges and agencies you have chosen to adjust on their fixed schedule, by at least every two weeks.

Thus, depending on when you take the SAT test, your score report can be expected from 2-6 weeks after your test date. The SAT score reports are then sent to colleges within 10 days after your scores are revealed to you. Once colleges receive your scores, they take time to process at least for a week.

Fee waivers

Qualify for a fee waiver. The College Board offers SAT fee waivers to low-income to low-income students.

Fee waivers get the ability to send SAT score reports to the colleges you want of free charges. To be eligible, contact your high school counselor/representative of an authorized community-based organization.

SAT score choice

If you took the SAT more than once, decide about the best scores you’ll send to colleges. First, check the score policy for each college you wish to apply for. Some colleges tale all your scores while some take overall best score, or take your SAT super score.

Use the College Boards Score choice as an optional service, helps you to choose SAT test date scores you will send to colleges.

If you missed score choice, the college board automatically sends your overall SAT results and SAT subject test results to the schools you apply.

For example; if a college on your list super-scores the SAT, you’ll wish to send the test date with your highest SAT EBRW score and the test date with your highest SAT math score.

Steps to apply SAT scores

Note the easy steps below:

  • Sign in to your college board account, click on “Send scores.”

  • Click on Send Available Scores Now if you wish to send your scores quickly, or either click on “Send Scores When Available” if you’re registered for an upcoming test.

  • Search for your colleges by name, state, location. Next, click “Add” to make score report recipients.

  • Repeat the same process for the schools in your lists.

  • Recheck your order and pay.

  • Check your account to see if the scores have been sent after your testing date.

How long is the SAT for?

It is 3 hours long. SAT with essay test will be 3 hours, 50 minutes.
