History of California State University, Northridge

The history of the University shifts to the year 1958 when it was founded. It was at first named as the San Fernando Valley College and Ralph Prator was its first president. It enrolled a monumental number of 2,525 students with the fees of $29 per semester during its first year of admission. In the year 1968, the University was built with overwhelming and outstanding facilities. Its first foreign-student agreement was authenticated with China, Brazil, Ukraine, and Japan in the year 1981. The admissions created a new record in the year 1988 with 31,575 students and 1,764 faculties. The fees were altered to $342 per semester. Even though a 6.7 magnitude earthquake had hit the University causing more than $400 million during this time, its hopes never were dented in becoming one of the largest hubs for technology and education. By the year 1998, the University transformed itself into an amazing infrastructure of that era. On February 2007 a megawatt fuel power plant, first of its kind in a University was inaugurated. This was a rare achievement as no other universities have such specialization. In 2008 the University celebrated its 50th anniversary in grandeur.
