Dutchess Community College is a public college headquartered in Poughkeepsie, New York. In 1955, there were only 40 community colleges in the United States to satiate the needs of a 325,000 number large learning community. Considering this need of the learning population, a community college was established for the Dutchess County dwellers.

Presently, the college spreads over an area of 130 acres and a 10 membered board of trustees govern the college. It aims to be the mentor of an innovative and transformative community and it enables the student-population to realize their full potential.
