It is interesting to note that, every year, around 56% of students at GCC receive some kind of financial aid, while the total amount of assistance/loans provided is $2,977,325. Notably, a total of 34% of the applicants to Germanna Community College receive the Federal Grant every year. Meanwhile, 44% of the applicants receive the Student Grant and 11% are awarded the Institution Grant, while 34% of the students get the Pell Grant. Furthermore, the average aid for the Federal Grant receivers is $4,311, and the same stands at $1,070 for State Grant awardees and $1,281 for Institution Grant recipients. And, for the Pell Grant awardees, the average aid amount is $3,290. The annual family income of the applicants is also considered for determining the total financial assistance that they will be eligible for. Alternatively, the candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans, apart from financial grants and scholarship schemes to pay for their studies. However, student loans attract a certain rate of interest at which the funds are borrowed. Candidates are also required to repay these loans within a given period. At GCC, an estimated number of 13% of the applicants choose to go for student loans.
