There are certain requirements that are to be fulfilled by the applicants for getting admitted to the university. These requirements are as follows-
GPA
University reviews the applicant’s high school transcript and evaluates the courses applicant took and the grades they received.
The cumulative GPA provided by the applicant’s high school is used in the admissions process. If they have a weighted and unweighted GPA, the university will use whichever is best for them in terms of admission and merit-based scholarships.
University does not recalculate the candidate’s GPA; however, they will convert your GPA to a 4.0 scale if your school uses a different grading scale.
Test Scores
Official SAT or ACT scores are required for first-year applicants. The SAT total—or ACT composite score—is reviewed for all applicants. For engineering applicants, the university also reviews the math score on either exam.
If you’ve taken both exams, or taken an exam more than once, we use whichever scores from a single test benefit you most for admission and merit-based scholarships.
Michigan Tech currently accepts either the SAT or ACT and has no preference to which scores students submit with the application for admission—students receive equal consideration for admission and merit-based scholarships with either set of scores.
High School Graduation
To enroll at Michigan Tech, you must be awarded a high school diploma or have earned your GED. An official final transcript, showing your final grades and graduation date, is required within 30 days of your high school graduation.
Upon completion of your senior year, request to have an official final transcript sent directly to Michigan Tech from your high school. To be considered official, a transcript must be sent directly to Michigan Tech by the institution issuing the transcript, or from a transcript service such as Parchment.
Transcripts stamped “issued to student” or those hand-delivered, even if in a sealed envelope, are not acceptable.
