Sul Ross State University (SRSU) is a public institution created by an act of the 35th Legislature in 1917 and opened its door in 1920 as Sul Ross Normal College. Over the years, the administration broadened its scope and changed its name to Sul Ross State University in 1969. At present, the campus is spread across 647 acres in Alpine, Texas.
