About the Scholarship

This award is for available to Alabama students who are from families in which the head of the family is blind and whose family income is insufficient to provide educational benefits for attendance at an Alabama postsecondary institution. Students must apply within two years of high school graduation. Application requirements for the Alabama Scholarship for Dependents of Blind Parents are:Application form Proof of parent's blindness Income tax return

Eligibility Criteria

This award is for U.S. students. Must be a resident of Alabama. Must have a parent who is blind. Must be a graduating high school senior or older and apply within two years of high school graduation. Must plan to attend an Alabama state-supported institution of higher learning. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must have a family income of equal to or less than 1.3 times the current poverty income level (as determined by federal poverty guidelines). Must be 23 years of age or younger.
