About the Scholarship

This scholarship is given by the organization South Carolina State Department of Education. This Archibald Rutledge Scholarship Competition provides assistance for tuition, campus room and board, and instructional resources. This scholarship is for those students who have an interest in creative writing (poetry), drama, composing music, dance, or the visual arts.

How to apply for the scholarship?

The candidates can find the application online on their official website South Carolina State Department of Education and can apply.

The candidate must have to submit his/her FAFSA certificate.

The candidate must have to submit his/her ACT/SAT scorecard.

The candidates must have to submit his/her academic scorecard.

The candidates must meet are included on the individual entry forms.

The applicant must have to submit two of his/her recommendation letter.

The candidate has to submit an essay on his/her career plan and future plan.

The awarded amount for the scholarship:

The awarded amount for this scholarship is $2,000 per year.

This scholarship is non-renewable for three additional years.

The number of awards given per year is five.

Deadline for the scholarship:

The deadline for this scholarship is the 5th of February.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be a high school senior.

The applicant must be a resident of South Carolina.

The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

The applicant must have an interest in writing, composing music, dance, drama or the visual arts.

The applicant must have attended a South Carolina public high school for two or more years, college or university.
