About the Scholarship
Drs. Jitendra M. and Saryu J. Desai started the ESASID Scholarship in the year 2002. Starting in 2003, a scholarship is available each year for a South Asian student of Indian descent enrolled full time in his/her second, third, or fourth year at an accredited Pennsylvania medical school. Applicants must be residents of Pennsylvania or New Jersey in order to receive this opportunity.
How to Apply for Scholarship?
An applicant must complete a scholarship application form in order to apply for this award.
Applicants should also complete the FAFSA application form to demonstrate the financial need.
In addition to that, an applicant should give two reference letters from faculty members that must indicate integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future physician.
A student must also provide an official letter indicating the current school or college where he/she is studying in.
An applicant must give a typed one-page essay addressing the How do you hope to be involved in your community beyond the clinical care of patients? and In what ways would you hope to demonstrate leadership as a physician?
Award Amount and Deadline:
An organization is funding $2000 to one eligible candidate annually.
All scholarship application materials must be postmarked by September 30th, 2019.
The applicant must be a resident of the state of Pennsylvania for the least of one year prior to the application.
The applicant must be a South Asian Indian or a descendant of a South Asian Indian immigrant to the United States.
The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited medical school in Pennsylvania as a full-time student.
The applicant must be in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of medical school.
