About the Scholarship
The student who is a farmworker or is a child of a farmworker, belonging to an ethnic community is provided financial assistance by the community foundation, Asian Pacific Fund.
The Lapiz Family Scholarship is awarded in the memory of the farmworkers, Apolonio and Arcadia Lapiz to freshmen or current undergraduate student enrolled as full-time in the University of California.
The scholarship is awarded based on the financial status as well as the academic standing of the student.
Lapiz Family Scholarship Awards
A scholarship award of $2000 is awarded to one eligible recipient of the program per annum.
The total award received by eligible students may go up to $4000.
The scholarship program is renewable to previous year recipients based on certain criteria.
Lapiz Family Scholarship Application
The recipient of the scholarship program is selected based on the eligibility criteria set by the scholarship committee of the association.
The applicants must submit the following documents in order to complete the application process:
The completed student application form that is available on the official website of the organization.
Essays based on the given topics.
Official or unofficial transcripts of grades.
Two letters of recommendation, one from a current teacher or professor.
A resume, inclusive of achievements and awards in academics and extracurricular activities.
The applicants must go through the checklists and instructions given at the time of application.
Lapiz Family Scholarship Application Deadline
The application inclusive of all the required materials must be postmarked and sent via mail to the scholarship committee of the Asian Pacific Fund by April 20th without fail.
Any applications received past the deadline or incomplete will be disqualified.
The applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
The applicant must be an incoming freshman.
The applicant must be a full-time undergraduate at a campus of the University of California.
The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more.
The student should produce financial need.
