About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the National Council of Jewish Women - Los Angeles Section (NCJW/LA), founded by women who were committed to bringing about social and political change to improve the quality for women, children, and families. They've always been a powerful catalyst for social change. This scholarship award is intended to ease the burden of a parent who wants to start or continue his/her education.


How to apply for the scholarship? 

The applicant should complete the application which can be found on the National Council of Jewish Women site. Each application a student fill can be used to apply for up to 2 scholarship awards.

In addition, a recipient must also fill in the FAFSA application form to determine what scholarship they are eligible for and the financial position of a student and his/her family.

Along with the application, the applicant should submit two recommendation letters, a personal statement, and official academic transcripts to prove their academic excellence. 


Award Amount and Deadline

The award amounts to $1,000 for one deserving candidate per year and is non-renewable.

All the above-mentioned documents must be submitted to the institution on or before November 01, 2019 to be eligible for the scholarship.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a woman who is a resident of the Greater Los Angeles Area.

  • The applicant must be entering or continuing a program to learn a marketable skill that will lead to economic self-sufficiency.

  • The applicant's award is to pay for childcare.

  • A student must be a legally recognized citizen of the United States to be eligible for the scholarship.
