What are Ohio Scholarships?

Potential degree candidates pursuing a college scholarship in Ohio will encounter a host of possibilities. There are need-based and merit-based scholarships as well as funding opportunities for individuals pursuing vocational education in traditionally under-served fields.

Paying for college may become expensive, thus students at Ohio public institutions of higher education have multiple ways to lower the cost of sticker price tuition. Securing a financial aid package offered by the State of Ohio is one of the ways. Students who are not willing to pay are offered grants and scholarships. To make sure that immediate cost-savings are met to the students at Ohio public institutions, the State of Ohio provides many such opportunities for those students. The college scholarships are awarded based on a number of areas of studies including:

  • Teaching

  • Science

  • Engineering

  • Technology

  • Math

  • Medicine

There are also other criteria for providing scholarships such as academic merit, financial need, military status, etc.

The Buckeye State has continued to encourage and inspire its residents on the importance of education, especially with these scholarships for Ohio residents. Even if you aren’t a current resident of Ohio but plan to attend a school in the state, such as the Ohio State University (OSU), University of Cincinnati (UC), Miami University of Ohio (MU), or the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), you may also be qualified for these scholarships for Ohio students. There are many college scholarships for aspiring candidates.
