About Auburn University (AU)

Auburn University (AU) is a public university established in the year 1856 in Auburn, Alabama. In 1967 AU at Montgomery became a separately accredited campus with an enrollment of 5,200 students. The university campus occupies an area of about 1,840 acres helping almost 25,000 students fulfilling their dreams. It has 206 academic buildings and a total of 427 buildings.

Initially, it was named as Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama and again in 1899, its name was changed to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in the year 1960, the institute was renamed as Auburn University.

It offers more than 140 majors and has various schools and colleges. The university has a Study Abroad Program which guides almost 800 Auburn Students every year to study abroad. There are more than 300 clubs and organizations in which students take an active part.
