Homeland security is a field that is concerned with the safety of local, state, and federal infrastructure in case of any disasters or terrorist attacks. This program is a field of study that offers students with techniques of intelligence gathering and also deals with prevention of internal and external threats to the nation. This program also includes training in different fields such as law enforcement, and emergency medical services.
An Accredited College/University creates a pathway for the students to enroll in homeland security programs offered by the Colleges/University which are funded by the federal government or the state government.

The subjects taught to the students in the homeland security program are mainly intelligent analysis and disaster management. Common subjects are also taught which include political science, psychology, engineering, disaster and emergency preparedness, counterterrorism, and national and local security.
An Associate’s degree requires 60-65 credits and takes 2 years to be completed. It focuses on the study of terrorism, homeland security law, emergency management, and risk analysis.
A Bachelor’s degree requires 120-125 credits and takes 4 years to be completed. It offers the students in-depth knowledge about terrorism, counter-terrorism, and hazard management.
A Master’s degree requires 30-40 credits and takes 2 years to be completed. This program prepares students to work as emergency management directors, security consultants, and logisticians.
A Doctorate’s degree requires 60-70 credits and takes 4-5 years to be completed. This program allows the students to research about the field.
There are few requirements which need to be fulfilled before one applies for an admission in the business management program. The student should have a high school diploma with a minimum of 2.0- 3.0 GPA.
The homeland security program provides students the knowledge about security, risk analysis and management, and the ways to counter and manage hazards and terrorism.
