To qualify for consideration of admission at HIU, a first-time freshman applicant must meet two of the subsequent three criteria:

  1. Achieve a minimum 2.5 cumulative (weighted) academic highschool GPA (9 - 12 grades)

  2. Submit an SAT score of a minimum of 900 or higher (Critical Reading and Math sections) or an ACT score of 19 or higher

  3. Graduate in the top one-half of her/his graduating class.

  4. All First-Time Freshmen must submit proof of high school graduation or completion by highschool diploma/graduation, California highschool State Proficiency Exam (CHSPE), General Education Development (GED) Test or College Level Examination Program (C.L.E.P.)

Applicants who don't meet minimum admission requirements could also be considered for admission. Applicants may be required to submit additional documentation and may be subject to additional review processes.
