The Houston Community College Office of Admission and Financial Aid understands that you are embarking on one of the most important and exciting journeys of your life. They also know how stressful that journey can become when it comes to filling out all the necessary paperwork and worrying about how you are going to pay for it. Financial Aid and scholarships play a very important role in making this journey an enjoyable and Crucial one. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Houston Community College offers various scholarships, grants and helps in securing easy loans on the basis of academic excellence or need-based. Out of all the students who apply through FAFSA, 40% of the students are awarded financial aid which rounds up to a huge amount of $88,159,142.

Scholarships

  • Chancellor Scholarships: This scholarship offers the amount of $300 per semester until the student completes their degree. To qualify for this grant students need to submit the FAFSA along with it. Students are required to maintain a GPA of 4.0 and complete 30 credit hours at HCC.

  • Honor College Scholarship: The students who are enrolled for the honors college and didn’t have enough assistance to cover the tuition and college fees. Take a look at Honors College to know more about the eligibility criteria in detail.

  • Impact Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to the students who meet all the qualifying requirements, the student must enroll for 9 credit hours or more whereas student EFC should be in the range of $2,000 to $6,500 and the annual income of the student must be less than $50,000. Students must keep a GPA of 2.74 or above to remain eligible for Impact scholarship.

  • Eagle Promise - Free Degree Program: Under this scholarship, the graduated student of Spring High School who is residents of Houston Community College’s taxing district will be offered a free degree or certificate as well as an allowance of $500 per semester to the qualifying students.

Grants

Federal Grant

  • Federal Pell Grant: This grant is offered to the students who have not yet received their first bachelor’s degree. To qualify the student must have EFC which is eligible as per the grant’s guidelines which is determined by the federal aid office.

  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant: SEOG is the additional grant to the Pell grant. If Pell eligible students demonstrate the exceptional financial need they are awarded by the SEOG.

State Grant

  • Texas Public Education Grant: TPEG is a grant offered by the state to a resident of Texas. To qualify the student must file the FAFSA along with it and the student must enroll for at least 6 credit hours.

  • Texas Public Educational Grant: This grant is offered to the residents of Texas who have not yet received their first bachelor’s degree. Students must have EFC of 4800 or less along with it students at least enroll for a half time degree program.
