At PCHS, the total percentage of applicants who receive the Federal Grant stands at 38%. Meanwhile, 63% of the applicants receive the Student Grant and 22% are awarded the Institution Grant, while 36% of the students get the Pell Grant. While the Federal Grant awardees receive an average aid of $4,775, the State Grant receivers and Institution Grant beneficiaries get $3,152 and $5,143, respectively. And, for the Pell Grant awardees, the average aid amount is $4,169. The annual family income of a candidate is one of the key factors in determining their total eligibility for financial aid. Those with a family income below $30,000 per annum, would get an average federal aid of $6,718 in a year. For the $30,001-$48,000 and $48,001-$75,000 family income brackets, the average aid amount stands at $8,132 and $5,289, respectively. On the other hand, the average federal aid stands at $1,886 for those with an annual family income between $75,001 and $110,000, and at $88 for an income more than $110,000. Alternatively, the candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans, apart from financial grants and scholarship schemes to pay for their studies. In contrast to grants and scholarships, student loans are taken by the candidates at a certain rate of interest. While grants and scholarship schemes do not require repayment, student loans should be repaid by the applicants within a given period. At Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, the percentage of candidates who opt to avail of student loans is around 70%.
