Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Since the admissions at Texas Southern University are selective, there is a set of requirements that an applicant must fulfill in order to get an admission. Following are the requirements for the undergraduate applicants-

  • The initial requirement is a complete Admission form.

  • There is a compulsory non-refundable application fee of $42.00 which can be paid online at the time of application. It is required to submit an approved fee waiver or an application fee as the applications are not processed until then,

  • The students are required to apply for their Official high school transcript. The transcripts must indicate the date of graduation or a GED certificate if applicable.

  • A minimum GPA requirement is applicable/ The students must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 on a scale of 4.00.

  • For admissions, Texas Southern University considers SAT or ACT test scores as a factor of an application evaluation. It is compulsory to submit either ACT or SAT scores.

  • Students are required to Complete Placement Testing upon admission.


Graduate Admission Requirements

For the graduate applicants at Texas Southern University, there is a different set of minimum requirements. These requirements are as follows:

  • Graduate applicants are required to complete the graduate admission application.

It is compulsory to submit a GRE score for all doctoral level programs, although there are some graduate programs that do not require GRE scores.   • For graduate admissions, students are required to submit 3 letters of recommendation from individuals from their educational and academic backgrounds.

  • Resume- A current resume covering all the academic and professional experiences and achievements.

  • A Personal Essay of 300 to 500 words covering all the career and academic goals of the individual. 

  • An application fee of $75 is applicable for graduate admissions. The applications are not processed until the fee is submitted by the applicants.
