University of Tennessee Martin is a public institution which is devoted to providing 4-year higher education, the origin of this university reverse engineered to 1900 and in 1917 the name of the university named as Hall-Moody Normal School and from there the school received its junior college status.

In the year 1927 the college merged with Union University in Jackson but the operations were going run on the UT banner and this is the place where tables turned for the university because the enrollment got boomed and slowly the university got a lot of praise from the west Tennessee community, after many successful years it gained its university status in 1967 and that day is celebrated as universities banner year.
