UMD acceptance rate

The current acceptance rate for the University of Maryland College Park is 47%. Although UMD’s volume of accepted applicants is much higher than other Maryland public universities, its overall acceptance rate is lower.
In comparison to the UMD acceptance rate of 47%, UMBC accepts 58% of applicants, and Loyola University Maryland accepts 79%.
Compared to other Big 10 universities in the region, the UMD acceptance rate is lower than both Penn State (56%) and Rutgers (60%).

The 2021 University of Maryland applicant pool was 51% women and 49% men. Compared to other state schools within a 3-hour drive, UMD’s male/female applicant ratio is about the same as the University of Virginia (52% women) and more even than the University of Delaware (58% women).
Women were admitted to UMD at a rate of 48%, slightly higher than the admission rate for men (46%).
