About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the BMI Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides the support for the creation, performance and study of music through awards, scholarships, grants, and commissions. The Foundation works to administer various scholarship competitions, awards, fellowships, and commissions. The Foundation awards grants yearly to non-profit music and arts organizations around the country. This grant is a yearly competition open to rising jazz stars enrolled at colleges and universities nationwide. Selections will be done based on talent and potential as a jazz performer and composer.
How to apply for the scholarship?
The applicant should complete the application which is available on the BMI Foundation site.
Along with the application, the applicant should provide three recordings of recent performances.
There are no limitations as to the age, style, instrumentation, or voice in the performance
How much the scholarship award amounts to?
The award amounts to $5,000 yearly and is non-renewable.
Up to one award is offered yearly.
The deadline date is set for February 1
A student should be current full-time or part-time students of a U.S. college or university. Students who have been accepted to a U.S. college or university for future enrollment are NOT eligible.
A student age must be between 17 and 24 as of time of submission.
Former winners (other than Honorable Mention) of the BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship are not eligible to enter the competition.
