About the Scholarship

Bruce Shelton Scholarship is accredited by Winston-Salem Foundation. The Winston-Salem Foundation was established on October 14, 1919. The foundation is a generous and trusting community where everyone is thriving for education, they inspire giving and link resources to action. Bruce Shelton Scholarship is started in 1991 by the Shelton family to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors from a Forsyth County public high school, who have excelled in at least one varsity sport.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • The students must have been completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application form first to determine the financial position of a student and his/her parents.

  • Applicants must provide their high school grade transcript through the first semester of the 12th grade, and one recommendation as described in the online application.

  • In addition to the FAFSA, a student has to fill in the application form that can be accessed from the official website. This form will be reviewed and will be notified if a student is selected.


Scholarship Award Amount

  • The scholarship provides an amount of $1000 annually.

  • This award is renewable for three additional consecutive years if the recipient maintains full-time enrollment and a minimum cumulative college grade point average of 2.5 as verified by the year-end academic grade transcript.

  • Scholarships will be applied to the cost of undergraduate tuition, fees, room and board, and other college expenses.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to one candidate each year.


Deadline Information

Applicant must submit all the necessary documents and application to the financial aid division on or before April 01, 2020. Any further details about application and documents to be submitted, a student can contact the support department of the institution.


Eligibility Criteria

  • An Applicant must maintain a minimum of 2.5-grade point average out of 4 to be eligible for the scholarship award.

  • The applicant must be a graduating high school student from a Forsyth County public high school who displays the traits of athletic excellence, leadership, and social responsibility.

  • A student must be very good in their academics and must demonstrate it by being among the top 25 in the class.
