About the Scholarship
The "James V. Day Scholarship" award is awarded by the organization 'American Legion Headquarters Department of Maine'. This scholarship is for any vocational or technical school for two or four years of college undergraduate study for any accredited college. It provides assistance to financially needy students who are seeking education beyond the secondary level.
How to apply for the scholarship?
Applications are available on the official website 'American Legion Headquarters Department of Maine' and all the applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.
- The applicant has to log in to the website first for applying.
- A student must submit a copy of his/her birth certificate or passport (preferred) or alien registration card.
- Applicant must have to submit FAFSA certificate.
A student must submit the Official scorecards of ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester as well as academic performance.
A student must also submit two recommendation letters, one from the principal and another must be from two non-relatives who knows the applicant other than the teacher.
The awarded amount for the scholarship:
The amount awarded for this scholarship is $500 per year and is non-renewable. The number of awards given to the eligible candidates is one.
Deadline for the scholarship:
The deadline for this scholarship is the 1st of May.
The applicant must reside at Maine.
He/she must be the child and/or grandchild of a veteran.
He/she should be a high school senior or older and they can apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

He/she must have a parent or grandparent who is/was a veteran.
