Emergency management which is also termed as the disaster management covers the precaution, prevention and protection process in case of an emergency. Its main objective is the management and allocation of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all the humanitarian aspects of emergencies. An Associate’s degree in emergency management prepares students for entry-level employment in the field, and can also act as a stepping stone on the path to a baccalaureate or master's degree. It requires 60-80 credits and takes 2 years to be completed.

A Bachelor’s degree in emergency management prepares the students for various careers in areas of firefighting, law enforcement, or safety and security by developing skill sets around preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. It requires 120-130 credits and takes 4 years to be completed.

A Master’s degree in emergency management prepares students for top-level positions in this field. It requires 30-50 credits and takes 2 years to be completed.

A Doctorate’s degree in emergency management provides a deeper knowledge of the subjects of emergency management. It requires 60-70 credits and takes 3-5 years to be completed.

The minimum GPA requirements to apply for admission in emergency management programs fall in the range of 2.0-3.0.
