Barry University offers many scholarships and grants of different types, such as need-based, on scholastic achievement, and athletic grants.
Scholarships
State Scholarships

Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Programme: Futures Scholarship Programme is the scholarship programme in the state of Florida. The programme funds three scholarships available to Florida residents who attend a Florida high school and an eligible post-secondary institution.

Florida Academic Scholars: Requires a minimum weighted GPA of 3.5, an ACT composite score of 29, or SAT combined reading/math score of 1290 (1330 as starting in 2021), and 100 volunteer service hours.

Florida Medallion Scholars: Requires minimum weighted GPA of 3.0, an ACT composite score of 26 (25 starting in 2021), or SAT combined reading/math score of 1170 (1210 starting in 2021), and 75 service hours

Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars: Requires minimum weighted GPA of 3.0; available to students pursuing a career education or certificate programme. The Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars funds up to 60 credit hours for a bachelor of science or bachelor of applied science programme following completion of the corresponding associate degree.

Barry Scholarships: The scholarship is awarded annually to talented incoming freshmen and transfer students based on their scholastic achievement. These scholarships may be renewable, based on the student’s academic progress and eligibility score.
The Barry University Scholarship System helps students find scholarship opportunities. The student can complete one single application each semester to create their profile and automatically get considered for Barry University scholarships. Anyone can search the system to see what scholarship opportunities are available.

Grants

Federal Pell Grants: Federal Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances. The amounts of the Federal Pell Grants can change yearly. The maximum Federal Pell Grant award is $6,345 for the 2020-21 award year. More about eligibility and other requirements for Federal Pell Grants can be found here.

Federal Stafford Loans: The Stafford Loan is a student loan offered to eligible students enrolled in accredited American Institutions of Higher Education to help finance their education. The terms of loans are described in Title IV of Higher Education Act of 1965 (with subsequent amendments), which guarantees repayment to the lender if the student defaults. The loans are offered at a lower interest rate than the borrower would otherwise be able to get for a private loan.

Florida Resident Access Grants: The William L. Boyd, IV, Florida Resident Access Grant is a tuition assistance programme for students registered at eligible, independent, non-profit colleges and universities in Florida. The Bureau of Student Financial Assistance within the department of education oversees the programme. Florida residents who enrol full-time as undergraduates at selected independent colleges and universities in the state may be eligible for the FRAG. Students enrolled in theology or divinity programmes are not eligible to receive a grant. The award is not need-based.

Florida Student Assistant Grant: The Florida Student Assistant Grant is a need-based grant programme available for degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who contest substantial financial need and are enrolled in participating postsecondary institutions.

Barry Access Grants: These grants are awarded to those students who contest financial need as determined by the results Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The award amounts may vary and are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Athletic Grants: Athletic grants are awarded by Barry University to those outstanding athletic ability. The students who are interested in these grants should contact the appropriate head coach or the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
