Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Since the admissions to the Grand Canyon University are a bit competitive, there are certain requirements that a student needs to fulfill in order to get admitted to GCU.

  • Transcripts- The students need to apply for transcripts from their previous educational institutions, The transcripts are compulsory to get admitted into the GCU.

Graduate Admission Requirements

A graduate applicant can also join the university. Doctoral Admission Requirements

GCU is glad to accept doctoral admissions for individuals wanting to achieve heights in learning and research. The applicants for doctoral programs need to fulfill one of the following requirements- 

  • Earned a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution with an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher. Applicants with a GPA of less than 3.4 may be accepted with specifications.

  • Earned a master's from a regionally accredited institution with an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher. Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 - 3.39 will be accepted with specifications. Applicants with a GPA below a 3.0 will not be accepted.


Admissions For Military Students

Grand Canyon University (GCU) recommends all military students have a pre-evaluation of all the previous educational and military experience as it will assist in determining whether GCU is the right choice to achieve their education goals. The university helps students to make transferring military credits to a college degree as easy as possible.

  • The applicants should have earned potential college credits through military training and experience that has been evaluated by the ACE as a military student

  • A military university counselor can help the candidates determine how to transfer military training to college credits so that they can maximize their experience. They can also assist candidates in obtaining unofficial copies of college transcripts from all previous schools and universities as well as military service transcripts

The candidates can transfer a total of 60 credits from military training as a military student, which can be evaluated from the following military service transcripts:

  • Army/Navy/Marines/Coast Guard - A Joint Service Transcript (JST). All veterans should submit a DD214 for evaluation always

  • Air Force - Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcripts can be obtained at their official website Veterans separated prior to 1950 should submit a DD214 for evaluation

  • If the candidates are unable to obtain military transcripts, they can submit a DD214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) for evaluation of college credit. All credits evaluated should meet the requirements of the degree and satisfy the specific course requirements in order to be transferred towards the degree program
