Pay Application Fee

The other step of the admission process is to pay the application fee which is 30 dollars only. This is a non-refundable amount paid to the university. The fee is to be paid immediately after filling up the form, in certain exceptional cases the fee can be paid later or can be waived off also.

Submission of the Documents

The applicants have to submit all the necessary documents to the university, the documents consist of the official transcripts of the last high school attended, or official ACT/SAT scores. The average GPA and test scores required are 25.6 ACT or 1210 SAT, and a 3.5 GPA.

Selection of the candidate

After submission of all the required documents, the process comes to an end and the last part remains which is the decision regarding the selection. The selected candidates get notified by the University.

Programs review applicant files and share their recommended admission decision with the Graduate School. The review process and timeframe vary by program. As such, applicants should direct questions to the program as the Graduate School is unable to provide a concrete timeline for each applicant.

Apply

The first step in applying is to create an Account or Login, without this account you cannot apply to the university. The next step is to create an Application, the application is created when the applicant responds to key questions that appear on the dashboard. After this, the next step is to complete the application, for completing the application candidate must follow the instruction carefully and fill up all the information correctly. The last step is to pay the application fee and submit the application.

Complete your Application Checklist

The application checklist will be displayed in the application dashboard after the application has been submitted. These documents are required before the program can review and make an admission recommendation to the Graduate School. Although the application dashboard indicates 100% complete, it is only referring to the submission of the application. The checklist is complete when all items have been marked as received as indicated by a green checkmark.

Decision

After the program submits an admissions recommendation to the Graduate School, the applicant's credentials are examined to ensure admission eligibility. The applicant will receive a notification that their decision letter is available to view in the application dashboard within 1 - 3 business days.

Confirm Intent to Enroll

If the applicants are admitted, the university encourages them to indicate their intent to enrol at UAB by clicking the green Reply to Offer button found in the bottom right corner of their admission letter in the application dashboard.

  • Certain programs have additional requirements beyond UAB’s requirements for general admission.

Graduate application requirements-

  • A Completed UAB online application.

  • $50 non-refundable application fee for domestic applicants and $60 for international applicants.

  • Transcripts- Admission to the UAB Graduate School requires a recognized baccalaureate, graduate, or professional degree from a regionally accredited (e.g., SACS) college or university, or an international equivalent of a four-year degree. The Graduate School must receive one official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended, including community colleges and high school dual-enrollment. The transcripts should be sent by the university directly bearing a seal on it, UAB will not consider transcripts sent directly by the applicants.

  • Test Scores- Students are required to submit official standardized test scores if required by their program for admission consideration. The university will not accept academic test scores that are more than five years old unless the program requests a recency waiver on the applicant's behalf. Applicants should contact the testing agency to have official scores sent to the UAB Graduate School's institution code (1856 for GRE, 1017 for MAT, 1CB5S61 for GMAT).

  • Additional Requirements- there are other additional requirements also such as Recommendation Letters (3), Personal Essay and a Resume or Curriculum Vitae.
