About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the Aurora Public Schools Education Foundation, an organization that promotes education within the Auro Public School District by bringing business-people, teachers, parents, alumni and community leaders. They help foster the college and career bound culture within the district. This scholarship was established to honor Robert Caviness, a World War II Navy veteran and then a teaching career that spanned 43 years.

How to apply for the scholarship?

  • The applicant must complete the application on the APS Education Foundation site.

  • Along with the application, the applicant should also submit an essay (500-1500 words), academic transcripts, two recommendation letters, a resume, and FAFSA.

How much the scholarship award amounts to?

The award amounts to $1,000 per year and is non-renewable.  


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should have a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4 to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • The applicant must be a participant in current year’s Robert F. Caviness Invitational attending an APS High School.

  • Applicants must be a graduating senior from an APS High School and be a United States citizen or eligible non-US citizen.
