Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is a Private-Not-For-Profit type of university located in Savannah, Georgia. Richard G. Rowan, Paula Wallace, May L. Poetter, and Paul E. Poetter together founded the university in 1978. The founders aimed to provide efficient art education along with practical lessons for a well-paced career. Savannah Volunteer Guard Armory served as the first classroom and administration building for the university in 1979.
