Scholarships

  • Departmental Scholarships: There are a number of them:

Federal Grants

 

  • Pell Grants: Students with demonstrated financial need are awarded with pell grants of range $639 - $6,349.

  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant: Students with financial extremities are offered with $100 - $2,000 awards every academic year.

 

State Grants

 

  • Tuition Assistance Program: Students with family income up to $80,000 are eligible with an annual award up to $5,165 every year. Here, family income refers to New York State Net Taxable Income of the previous year.

  • Aid for Part-Time Study: The award amount allotted per semester has a range of $100 - $1,000 for students who have enrolled for a 3 credit course at the least.

 

Institutional Grants

  • Suffolk Educational Program for Retention in the Voluntary Emergency Services: This provides funds for full-time and part-time matriculated candidates or volunteers which applies only for spring and fall semesters, specifically.

Loans

The Federal Government offers both subsidized and unsubsidized loans applicable for all students keeping certain qualifications and eligibility in mind.

  • Direct Subsidized Loans: The Federal Government takes upon the responsibility to pay the loan interests where undergraduate freshers have a limit of $3,500 and sophomores are allowed to borrow up to $4,500.

  • Direct Unsubsidized Loans: The interests charged against these loans are accrued once you receive the loan.

  • Parent and Graduate PLUS Loans: Dependent and graduate students’ parents may borrow loans who have enrolled at least half time.
