In today's world, everything is globalized and it's increasing. With trading internationally and commerce at its highest, with developing countries’ economies skyrocketing, it's extremely beneficial to learn a foreign language. Today the world is advancing into the future, and this future involves every country and every person on the planet.
Spanish is the second most spoken language in the US, and considering the fact that the US's location is in the Americas, that means you are virtually surrounded by Spanish speaking countries, except a few Portuguese speaking countries. It is beneficial for business, hospitality, construction, real estate, human resources, medicine and healthcare, emergency services, management, retail, government, etc.
A number of options are available for funding your education. One of the best options to ease the pain of college is earning college scholarships. There are several scholarships available for learning a foreign language as per your major area of study. There are various sources to get scholarships for foreign languages. However, the most common sources of scholarships for foreign language majors are Federal and State Governments, Colleges & Universities, and the Private Sector.
The U.S. Department of Education offers a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship Program while the Critical Language Scholarship Program conducts intensive summer language institutes overseas in 13 critical-need foreign languages but there are many, many more.
Due to the current shortage of qualified translators and interpreters, particularly in the critical languages and dialects of the Middle East and Asia, has prompted Washington to develop financial aid programs that support and encourage students to pursue foreign language studies. The financial aid programs usually target students who intend to pursue careers in foreign relations, national security, or the military.
You must be a citizen or national or a permanent resident of the United States.
You must be enrolled in a program that combines modern foreign language training with area or international studies.
You must show potential for high academic achievement based on grade point average, class ranking, or similar measures that the scholarship provider may determine.
If you are an undergraduate student you must be in the intermediate or advanced study of a less commonly taught language
