Bowling is considered to be a sport since it has been added as a demonstration sport in the Olympics many years ago because of international athletic implications, thereby it qualifies as a sport. However, it is also considered as a recreational activity.
As all the international competitions have always been fiercely contested. Bowling is and has been an international competition. It will likely continue to be an international competition for years to come. This status can clearly qualify it to be called a sport.
Bowling is not a sport that provides inexpensive nor easy access to most youngsters to develop skill and proficiency. It requires the use of expensive facilities and it can also be expensive to pursue due to the cost of equipment. Most Olympic games are less expensive than bowling other than Golf.
To counter the cost of such an expensive sport, college scholarships always come in handy. Bowling at the college level has a strong competition at the Divisions I and II especially as some of the top talents have a chance to earn substantial scholarship dollars. In the NCAA collegiate bowling is only open to women, but don’t worry there are scholarships for male bowlers as well.
Bowling is a competitive collegiate sport regardless of division, region, or athletic association, bowling. It is a sport that draws student-athletes to stand-out athletic programs at U.S. colleges and universities. Whatever your academic goals are, higher education sponsorship helps ease the financial burden of college. Hence use all your abilities to land financial aid for school.

You may be eligible for the NCAA scholarship, which is the largest athletic association in the US if you are good enough to bowl for a Division I or Division II school. This scholarship is offered by 43 member schools. They offer either Div 1 or Div 2 Women’s Bowling while only 2 schools offer scholarship bowling for Men. There are many men’s college bowling teams.
NJCAA stands for National Junior College Athletic Association. Collegiate competition is represented by the NJCAA at junior and two-year colleges. The NJCAA association also includes some very competitive athletic programs. These programs are beneficial for admirable and valuable bowlers who pursue educational opportunities at participating in NJCAA schools.
Bowling is unrecognized as a “championship sport” by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In spite of the NAIA designation, a number of good bowling programs operate within the NAIA school system, including favorites Pikeville College, Lindenwood University, and Lindsey Wilson College. In some instances, otherwise unknown colleges deliver enviable showings in high-profile collegiate bowling competitions.
You should be prepared for your junior year itself. If a bowling program interests you, then do some research to see if your competition scores match up with the individuals on their roster. If the school seems to be the right fit, then contact your coaches. They will guide you and help you to receive the scholarship.
